About the John P. Fiske House
The John P. Fiske House is a two-and-one-half-story, asymmetrically massed, mansard roofed, Second Empire-style brick and stone-trimmed building. The front façade is dominated by an engaged two-story octagonal tower crowned by an octagonal cupola. The slate mansard roof holds triangular pedimented dormers and is accented with dentils. A first-story side porch is joined to the cornice of the tower. Two sturdy brick chimneys hug the roofline. The John P. Fiske House has historical significance as the residence of a prosperous Detroit merchant of china and crockery ware. It has architectural significance as a notable example of Second Empire style residential design."
