#1 – The Great Outdoors on an Urban Byway (Lions and Tigers and Bikes…Oh my!)
Day 1
Morning (10:00 a.m. – 11:30) – Public Art by Bike – Enjoy the morning by bicycling around downtown Detroit and taking in dozens of pieces of Public Art. Download the Public Art Tour for Downtown. Pick up your transportation at Wheelhouse. Cycle west on the Riverwalk enjoying the beautiful Detroit River and Windsor skyline to Hart Plaza and the Ford Garage pedestrian exit near Jefferson and Woodward. Start the Downtown Pubic Art Audio Tour. Skip the People Mover stops until later. When finished with the Detroit Public Art Audio Tour return you bike to Wheelhouse.
![]() Noon – Wander back up the River Walk to the Renaissance Center. Take the Free Ren Cen Tour which leaves from the Wintergarden and learn about the building, GM and enjoy the panoramic view of Detroit and Windsor, Canada from the 72nd floor. Afternoon – (1:30 p.m.) Enjoy lunch in one of the many spots in the Renaissance Center or board the People Mover from the Renaissance Center for lunch in Greektown. Take in the missed Public Art stops either before or after lunch at the various People Mover stations. Return to the River Walk. ![]() 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Enjoy the Detroit River with a narrated history from the Diamond Jack River Boat Cruise. Board the boat from the Riverwalk – (Atwater and Rivard -arrive at least 30 minutes before departure). 7:05 p.m. – We invited you to root root root for our home team! Take in a Detroit Tiger’s Game at Comerica Park.
Day 2 Morning (9:00 a.m.) – Enjoy one of the nation’s first zoos to provide a bar-less exhibit experience at the Detroit Zoo70-foot-long tunnel passage that winds through a vast underwater marine environment. This 12-foot-wide, eight-foot-tall tunnel takes you underneath diving and swimming polar bears and seals! When you reached the far end of the zoo ride the train back to the entrance.
. Make sure you take in the Australian Outback Adventure where you can look face to back with a red Kangaroo and the only thing that separates you from him is a knee high cable. Also don’t miss the Arctic Ring of Life where you will walk through a spectacular Afternoon – 1:30 Stop in Birmingham for lunch 2:30 Cranbrook Gardens - Explore more than 40 acres of colorfully expansive gardens featuring sculpture, fountains, paths, streams and Kingswood Lake. The self-guided tour includes the formal gardens, bog garden, herb garden, wildflower garden and Oriental garden.
Dinner – Stop in Royal Oak for drinks and dinner.
6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Detroit Zoo – Return to the Zoo for Wild Summer Nights Concert |
