In June 2009, the WA3 received a $45,000 grant from the Office of Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization (ONCR) through the City of Detroit as part of the Six to Eight Mile/Woodward Revitalization Plan. The funding is part of ReFresh Detroit and ONCR’s Façade Renovation and Exterior Structure Habilitation program. The Woodward Corridor between 6 to 8 Mile is an eclectic blend of small businesses, residential properties, Palmer Park, the historic State Fairgrounds and the historic neighborhood of Palmer Woods. The WA3 is currently acting as fidiciary and facilitating the revitalization plan in partnership with locals businesses and other civic groups including La Dolce Vita, the Bread Basket restaurants, Park Motor Sales, to name a few. Other partners include Detroit Vacant Property Campaign, Next Detroit Neighborhood Initiative.
The WA3 was also awarded $20,000 in Federal National Scenic Byway funds for the develoment
of a conceptual streetscape design plan for Six to Eight Mile district.
By November 2009, the University Of Detroit Mercy Collaborative Design Center will complete the plan in time for the WA3 to seek additional funding for implementation.
