Volunteer Opportunities
Join the WA3 at Future Cruise!
The Woodward Avenue Action Association is excited to announce that we have partnered with the Detroit Science Center to launch a brand new summer event “Future Cruise”. This family friendly four day event will run from Thursday, August 19 to Sunday, August 22 in the heart of Detroit’s University Cultural Center. We are seeking volunteer to man our table in the Auto Educational center of the event over the four day period to work one two (2) hour shift during the weekend.
Thursday, Friday & Saturday (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
Sunday (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
If you have a passion for history or are just looking for a fun way to give back to the community to this opportunity is for you. Volunteers will be doing the following:
Providing WA3 tourism collateral to visitors at the booth (Woodward Maps, Auto Heritage & Music & More Itineraries and more)
Getting people to sign up to receive more information on the organization which will give them the opportunity to win a special prize pack from the WA3.
Provide information to visitors about the walking tours the WA3 will be doing throughout the weekend based on our Automotive Heritage Audio Tours

About Future Cruise:
Future Cruise is a family event that will show kids of all ages how science, math and art have helped to shape Michigan’s great past and will move us forward. Additional event partners include The Detroit Institute of Art, Charles H, Wright Museum of African American History, Detroit Historical Museum, the Children’s Museum and Wayne State University, MotorCities National Heritage Area, Motor Sports Hall of Fame and Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum.
Taking over the area of John R, Kirby, Farnsworth streets event highlights include a Pinewood Box Derby, Adult Trikes, Pit Crew Challenge, Advanced Car Competition featuring 10 categories including powertrain, painting, green vehicles and much more.
